I CANNOT BELIEVE that I wasn’t aware of this Flake advert, directed by Jonathan Glazer, which never made it to TV.
Happy Monday, everyone.

The morning shift threw up some really brilliant NTS sets. I listen quite eclectically when I’m working. I will often pick something from the NTS recommended list that looks interesting. I much prefer working to varied music that I don’t know, rather than anything that I know really well (and definitely not speech radio).
This Janie Jones set from 1st December is full of psychedelic rock curiosities, including this gem and this one. That last one sounds like it belongs in Three Kingdoms.
I was also into this Gran Turismo soundtrack special - one hour of all Gran Turismo music! I used to play Gran Turismo on my brother’s Playstation.
Check out this newsworthy insanity. I mean, is it real? Could it possibly be real? It took me forty-five seconds to get Wilbur to look at the camera for this one. He’s got his friend in bed with him, see.
Taking Wilbur out to play at lunchtime is a key waypoint in my days, currently. I work in the morning - this morning, on PROJECT APOLLO, the second draft of which is quite laborious as the story took some re-imagination because I didn’t believe the play’s main event in the first draft and I’m having to write the re-worked version as well as remove the unnecessary 40% of speech that I seem to add in first drafts - and then I do a couple of tasks and take Wilbur outside for as long as he’ll play for, usually while listening to podcasts or working my way through The Quietus albums of the year. And then I work again in the afternoon - I’ve got the luxury of it being a double my-own-projects day.
That’s what I’m working towards, really, being able to have as many my-own-projects days as I can. Is that what we’re all working towards?
Second draft of PROJECT APOLLO today, plus some extra bits of dreaming. Pulling myself from a garbage fire of a Sunday.
Floating Points, along with Italian record producer Marta Salogni, playing all Italian music - the opening track is a 23 minute ambient epic - on NTS yesterday is the perfect soundtrack to this oh-so-slow second draft of PROJECT APOLLO. Get it in your ears if you’re doing a late shift at work. It is the perfect accompaniment to this ‘oh god this is all total shit’ part of the creative process.
My Dad bought me lunch at Spiritland in Kings Cross today. How I long for their hi-fi set-up to play all this through.
